Every day thousands of severely ill children need to have their blood drawn. For most of these children this is a stressful and traumatic experience. To support the child throughout their illness and especially during the blood drawing procedure STARfish was designed. STARfish is a soft toy large enough to hug a child. When the arms of STARfish are connected, they fill with air and begin to vibrate, to give the child the impression of a tight hug. STARfish helps the child relax, and it functions as a friend to share the hospital experience with.
